Let’s go ride a bike!

Life’s not wheely that bad!

12th February 2020

The first thing you notice about Ninh Bình is that everybody is on a bike!

So we thought, why not give it a go.

Now I know we’ve made several comments about the erratic nature of the roads here in Vietnam but our assumption was that hopefully we wouldn’t die.

Which worked.

Would be awkward if it hadn’t because this blog would get dark super fast then!

Anyways, after meeting wonderful people who owned our hotel they suggested several places we should visit and rented us each bikes for around £3 a day.

Dan is less than comfortable on a bike but as long as no one goes near him he can stay upright, and from our trip out he wasn’t the one to be covered in bruises by the end of it.

🙋🏼‍♀️Guilty

We started out for one of the places the nice man told us to head for, making the most of the quieter roads and beautiful scenery.

And we had obviously bought ourselves some rice hats, because you can’t be a proper tourist without looking like idiots.

We will never be able to pull them off in the same way vietnamese people do, they have a confidence that we cannot replicate.

We were heading for the Bích Động pagoda which was said to be beautiful!

There was a load of steps to climb but the view was lovely at the top.

From there we carried on cycling until we found a nice man who had a boat, sl naturally we felt the need to ride on said boat,

Her promised us caves!

Also he rows the boat with his feet and sings which was another thing ticked off the ‘I never knew I wanted to see that but am super glad I have now’ list.

The area was so beautiful to peacefully bob along in!

We could’ve stayed on the boat all day but food was calling us!

Which is fair!
