The dreaded Health Check

URINE: opposite of ‘you’re out

13th January 2020

Just a nice man taking his tree for a road trip to distract from what you’re about to read

Well, having been in Vietnam for just over 36 hours, massive jet lagged and feeling generally crap, the first thing you want to do is to be bundled across the crazy city in rush hour to a medical centre for a ‘health check’.

What might this entail I hear you ask?

Well it is not a small prick on the finger and your blood pressure checked!

It was by far the most detailed medical check I have ever encountered, within the space of four hours (yes they got us up at 7am to be prodded by vietnamese people before breakfast) they took a blood sample, blood pressure, a urine sample, a chest x-ray, an untrasound, eye test, teeth check, ear nose and throat check and just generally poked you to see if it hurt.

If that doesn’t make you bond with your fellow teachers I don’t know what will!

Turns out neither of is dying (which is good to know) but not going to lie I feel like the Vietnamese government now know more about the inner workings of my body than I do, scary thought.

At least we got to explore Hanoi a little in the afternoon
